Since our inception in 2001, ICTJ has worked in more than 50 countries helping societies to address consequences of massive human rights violations by advising national authorities and civil society and supporting materialization of victims’ rights even in contexts where justice seems impossible.
Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the interest in transitional justice approaches to finding new pathways towards accountability and sustainable peace has only grown. Today, we work in over 20 countries each year, including countries in transition, countries in active conflict and repression and wealthy democracies seeking to address historic injustices.
Support from the philanthropic community is essential to advancing progress on delivering peace with justice through our rapid response to demands on the ground, through our support for victims and local champions for justice, and through accessibility of our political analysis and assistance. Support from the philanthropic community can help us to continue creating new ways to deliver justice even during this time of increased conflict and crisis.
