In service of our mission to equip a new generation of leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to protect and promote human rights and dignity for all, Stanford's Center for Human Rights and International Justice is collaborating with the International Court of Justice and others to digitize the Nuremberg war crimes tribunal documents collection. By exploring previous trials and commissions on crimes against humanity, policymakers and human rights activists can see what was successful in previous investigations or prosecutions, where there were failures, and how such defeats can be avoided in the future. Our joint Human Rights in Trauma Mental Health Program has also recently contributed to a UNITAD field guide on the implementation of a trauma-informed approach to working with witnesses and survivors of violence. The “Trauma-Informed Investigations Field Guide” sets out the trauma-informed approach that has guided UNITAD’s investigative practice.
