On December 11th, Article 3 will commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). Join us for Still We Rise, a commitment to purpose and solidarity and our call to action on the journey to protect and expand human rights.

75 Years of Resilience: Linking Past and Future

In response to the unconscionable atrocities of World War II, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) was created in 1948 as a firm commitment that those atrocities should never happen again. The UDHR recognizes the inherent dignity and equal and inviolable rights of every individual. It is widely recognized as having inspired, and paved the way for the adoption of more than seventy human rights treaties around the world.

Pursue Progress Despite Uncertainty

At 75 years-old, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights remains a powerfully instructive guide for confronting the challenges of today, including the pressing climate crisis, rise of authoritarianism, untold civilian casualties, persistent inequality, and paradox of technology as a force for good or harm. As a movement, our commitment to safeguarding and expanding human rights is strong even in the face of adversity.

Imagine a Transformed World: Ensure the Right to a Future

With hope, determination and resilience, we ponder the question: What does a better world truly entail? The Universal Declaration of Human Rights provides an unbreakable thread connecting human rights pioneers of yesteryears with the trailblazers of today, and the Article 3 Human Rights Day will shine a spotlight on the torchbearers of tomorrow. These individuals – activists and advocates, leaders and changemakers – are the embodiment of the human rights narrative, weaving a tapestry of new ideas and concrete actions that inspire us all.

Join Us to Commemorate International Human Rights Day 2023

Be part of the legacy, be part of the change. By renewing our commitment to the values that shaped the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, we pave the way for sustained progress, ensuring a "future-proofed" foundation for peace, security, and human rights.

We are thrilled to announce our distinguished 2023 Article 3 Human Rights Global Treasure Award recipient, Vivek Maru. Furthermore, we are pleased to welcome Ken Roth as Keynote speaker and highlight Julia Olson and Our Children’s Trust for their breakthrough leadership on climate rights in the pursuit of a just and livable future.

Human Rights Day 2023 is more than an event; it's a declaration of our shared commitment to shape our movement’s place in the world with justice, equality and dignity at the core. Together, Still We Rise.
